Acronis has developed Universal Deploy to help you deploy new systems to dissimilar hardware. There is nothing difficult deploying a standard configuration image to identical hardware. However, it is not the case when dealing with different hardware. Systems may fail to boot because the critical Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and mass storage device drivers are missing. You should be very careful about it: you are unlikely to automatically import the drivers required to boot the machine since Microsoft SysPrep allows you to import plug-and-play drivers only, such as video, sound, and network drivers.

Universal Deploy gives you an opportunity to install your image whenever – regardless of hardware – simply deploy the crucial HAL and mass-storage device drivers with an image.
